Terms for Chairspace.
Effective October 22, 2026 Version 2026-10-22
Chairspace is a service operated by McAllister Labs in Ontario, Canada. These terms cover use of the Chairspace marketing site, business accounts and shop websites. The shop, not McAllister Labs, provides barbering services to its customers. A shop's booking and cancellation policies also apply to appointments with that shop.
Starting a business account
The person creating a shop account must be authorized to act for that business and provide accurate account details. Submitting an email requests a verification link; it does not create an account or start a trial. After email verification, account setup and acceptance of these terms, the available free month begins. Staff access is by invitation and role; account holders are responsible for protecting passwords and authenticator codes and for managing staff access.
Free month and paid continuation
The free period is one calendar month from activation of the verified business account. It does not require a payment card, and Chairspace does not automatically bill when it ends. The advertised plans are Solo at CA$25 per month and Barbershop at CA$50 per month per location. A paid service starts only after the business explicitly chooses to continue and the arrangement is manually approved. Any applicable taxes and payment arrangements must be shown and agreed before a paid service starts. If there is no approved continuation, access may be limited or paused after the free period; contact us about your data and available next steps.
Bookings and shop responsibilities
Customer appointments made through Chairspace are paid in person at the shop. Chairspace does not collect a card, deposit or appointment payment, and appointment prices shown by a shop are not revenue collected by us. Each shop is responsible for accurate services, prices, hours, staff information, photos, customer-facing policies, booking decisions and the barbering service itself. A shop must have the rights and permissions needed for content it publishes and for customer information it enters. Customers should contact the shop about a specific appointment, service, refund or no-show decision.
Using the service responsibly
Do not use Chairspace to access another shop's or person's records without authority, interfere with the service, send unlawful messages, or upload content you do not have the right to use. Shops must use customer contact details only for permitted purposes and follow applicable privacy and messaging rules. Optional connections, such as review sources or message providers, may have their own terms and permissions. A link to Google or another external service does not mean Chairspace posts content there for a customer.
Chairspace text messages
McAllister Labs operates the Chairspace SMS program. When SMS is enabled, requesting a verification code gives permission for that security text: one code per request, with another sent only when you request it. Appointment updates and waitlist offers require a separate choice for the shop; their frequency depends on your bookings and requests. Review invitations and promotional texts require their own separate choices. Standard message and data rates may apply. Requesting a code does not subscribe you to those other messages, and promotional permission is not required to book.
For help, reply HELP to the sender or use the McAllister Labs Contact form and mention Chairspace. Reply STOP to stop texts from that messaging service. A shared service may also send for other Chairspace shops, so STOP can affect those texts too. If you later want texts again, reply START to the same sender where supported and make a fresh choice for each shop and message type; restarting delivery does not restore prior promotional or review permission. You can also withdraw optional choices in your shop account. If you cannot receive verification texts, contact the shop about a phone booking or walk-in.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Do not rely on an SMS as an emergency channel or proof that an appointment changed: check your confirmed appointment or contact the shop. Phone verification confirms possession of a number; it does not establish legal identity. Our Privacy Policy explains how contact details, message delivery and consent records are handled.
Content, records and availability
A shop keeps responsibility for its own business content and customer relationships. It permits us to store, process and display that content as needed to provide Chairspace, subject to our Privacy Policy. Customer reviews and private feedback follow separate controls. We may maintain records needed for security, dispute resolution, lawful obligations and service recovery; a closure request does not necessarily erase every record immediately. Ask us about export, correction or closure before ending access.
We work to keep Chairspace available and accurate, but maintenance, provider problems and network failures can interrupt service. A feature or outside integration is available only when it has been configured and enabled for the shop. A labelled example workspace contains fictional bookings and does not reserve a real appointment.
Questions, changes and governing rules
Use the McAllister Labs Contact form for account, service or terms questions; select Contact and mention Chairspace. We may update these terms as the service changes. We will identify the new effective date and seek renewed acceptance when required. Ontario law governs these terms, subject to rights that applicable law does not allow us to remove. Nothing here limits a customer's mandatory consumer or privacy rights.
